Welcome to Fedoskino collection.com
My first trip to Russia was in the early 1990’s as part of an American management group working with the Russians to run The Kremlin Cup, a professional tennis tournament. It was newly formed Russia’s first professional event of any kind and was held at the Olympic stadium.
I immediately fell in love with Moscow and Russia. In an eerie way, I felt like I was home.
Those were very exciting times in Russia, to say the least. A carton of American cigarettes could still buy a kilo of the best beluga caviar.
I loved the excitement of the times and being part of a professional ATP tennis event and working with our new Russian colleagues. But even more, I fell in love with the culture, the food, the ballet, the opera, the wonderful people, their passion for art and then one day on a stroll down Arbot street, I discovered the magic of Russian lacquer boxes and in particular, the art school of Fedoskino. I travelled back and forth to Moscow on a regular basis over the next 12 years and even developed a small working knowledge of the Russian language.
During this period I collected the Fedoskino lacquer boxes that make up this website.
Please enjoy!!
